Beijing, January 28 — Chinese President Xi Jinping praised the nation's solid progress in advancing Chinese modernization over the past 12 months, despite facing complex and challenging situations. Speaking at a high-level reception on Monday to ring in the Chinese New Year, Xi highlighted the vitality and resilience demonstrated by the country.
“In the Year of the Dragon, we demonstrated vitality and a can-do spirit. We endured storms and saw the rainbow,” said Xi, who is also general secretary of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee and chairman of the Central Military Commission.
Addressing over 2,000 attendees at the reception hosted by the CPC Central Committee and the State Council to usher in the Year of the Snake, which begins on January 29, Xi emphasized China's composed response to difficulties. “Faced with complex and challenging situations, China responded with composure and implemented a range of comprehensive measures, overcame difficulties and forged ahead with determination,” he stated.
Xi extended Spring Festival greetings to the Chinese people of all ethnic groups, compatriots in the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, the Macao Special Administrative Region, Taiwan, and overseas Chinese. He acknowledged their contributions and unity in the face of adversity.
Highlighting economic achievements, Xi noted that over the past year, China effectively implemented existing policies and proactively introduced a package of incremental measures that promoted economic recovery. “China achieved remarkable progress in technological and industrial innovation, with new quality productive forces forging ahead steadily. Employment and consumer prices also remained stable,” he said.
As the nation prepares to enter the Year of the Snake, Xi's remarks inspire confidence and underscore a commitment to continued progress despite global uncertainties. The emphasis on modernization, innovation, and stability reflects China's strategic focus for the coming year.
