Chinese President Xi Jinping on Monday commended the nation's significant strides in advancing Chinese modernization during the Year of the Dragon, despite facing \"complex and challenging\" circumstances. Speaking at a high-level reception held by the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee and the State Council to usher in the Year of the Snake on January 29, Xi highlighted the country's resilience and determination.
\"In the Year of the Dragon, we demonstrated vitality and a can-do spirit. We endured storms and saw the rainbow,\" said Xi, who is also general secretary of the CPC Central Committee and chairman of the Central Military Commission.
Addressing an audience of over 2,000 people, Xi extended Spring Festival greetings to the Chinese people of all ethnic groups, compatriots in the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, the Macao Special Administrative Region, Taiwan region, and overseas Chinese.
Xi noted that China responded with composure to the complex situations by implementing a range of comprehensive measures, overcoming difficulties, and forging ahead with determination. \"Faced with complex and challenging situations, we overcame difficulties and forged ahead with determination,\" he said.
Over the past year, the country effectively implemented existing policies and introduced a package of incremental measures, promoting economic recovery. Xi highlighted China's remarkable progress in technological and industrial innovation, with new quality productive forces advancing steadily. He also emphasized that employment and consumer prices remained stable.
\"We have achieved solid progress in various undertakings, showcasing the vitality of Chinese modernization,\" Xi stated.
