Xi Jinping Lauds China’s Progress Amid Challenges as Nation Welcomes Year of the Snake

At a high-level reception on Monday, Chinese President Xi Jinping lauded the nation's solid progress in advancing Chinese modernization over the past 12 months, despite facing complex and challenging situations. The event, held by the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee and the State Council, marked the upcoming Chinese New Year, ushering in the Year of the Snake on January 29.

\"In the Year of the Dragon, we demonstrated vitality and a can-do spirit. We endured storms and saw the rainbow,\" said Xi, who is also general secretary of the CPC Central Committee and chairman of the Central Military Commission.

Xi emphasized China's composed response to the year's challenges, noting that the country implemented a range of comprehensive measures, overcame difficulties, and forged ahead with determination.

Over 2,000 people attended the reception, where Xi extended Spring Festival greetings to the Chinese people of all ethnic groups, compatriots in the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, the Macao Special Administrative Region, Taiwan, and overseas Chinese.

\"Over the past year, China effectively implemented existing policies and proactively introduced a package of incremental policies, which helped promote the recovery of the economy,\" Xi stated.

He highlighted the remarkable progress China achieved in technological and industrial innovation, with new quality productive forces steadily advancing. Xi also noted that China's employment and consumer prices remained stable over the past year.
