Xi Lauds China’s Solid Progress Amid Challenges in Year of the Dragon

Chinese President Xi Jinping on Monday celebrated the solid progress China has made in advancing modernization, acknowledging the nation's resilience amid complex and challenging circumstances over the past twelve months. The remarks were made at a high-level reception to welcome the Chinese New Year.

\"In the Year of the Dragon, we demonstrated vitality and a can-do spirit. We endured storms and saw the rainbow,\" said Xi, who also serves as general secretary of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee and chairman of the Central Military Commission.

Facing multifaceted challenges, China responded with composure, implementing a range of comprehensive measures. \"We overcame difficulties and forged ahead with determination,\" Xi noted at the reception held by the CPC Central Committee and the State Council to usher in the Year of the Snake, beginning on January 29.

The event was attended by over 2,000 people, including representatives from various sectors. Xi extended Spring Festival greetings to the Chinese people of all ethnic groups, compatriots in the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, the Macao Special Administrative Region, the Taiwan region, and overseas Chinese communities.

Over the past year, China effectively implemented existing policies and proactively introduced a package of incremental measures, which helped promote economic recovery. \"We achieved remarkable progress in technological and industrial innovation, with new quality productive forces forging ahead steadily,\" Xi said. He added that employment figures and consumer prices remained stable, reflecting the country's robust economic foundations.

The President's remarks highlight China's commitment to pursuing modernization while navigating global uncertainties. As the nation steps into the Year of the Snake, there is a renewed sense of optimism and determination to continue this trajectory of growth and innovation.
