Xi Jinping Lauds China’s Achievements Amid Challenges in the Year of the Dragon

Chinese President Xi Jinping on Monday praised the nation's solid progress in advancing Chinese modernization despite complex and challenging situations over the past twelve months. Speaking at a high-level reception held by the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee and the State Council to ring in the Year of the Snake, which begins on January 29, Xi highlighted the country's resilience and determination.

\"In the Year of the Dragon, we demonstrated vitality and a can-do spirit. We endured storms and saw the rainbow,\" said Xi, who is also general secretary of the CPC Central Committee and chairman of the Central Military Commission. The reception, attended by over 2,000 people, was held to usher in the Year of the Snake.

Xi acknowledged the challenges faced by the nation but emphasized China's composed response and proactive measures. \"Faced with complex and challenging situations, China responded with composure and implemented a range of comprehensive measures, overcame difficulties, and forged ahead with determination,\" he said.

During the event, Xi extended Spring Festival greetings to the Chinese people of all ethnic groups, compatriots in the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, the Macao Special Administrative Region, Taiwan, and overseas Chinese.

Reflecting on the past year, Xi noted that China effectively implemented existing policies and proactively introduced a package of incremental policies, contributing to the recovery of the economy. \"China achieved remarkable progress in technological and industrial innovation, with new quality productive forces forging ahead steadily,\" he said. \"China's employment and consumer prices also remained stable.\"

As the country prepares to enter the Year of the Snake, Xi's remarks underscored a commitment to continue advancing Chinese modernization and overcoming future challenges with resilience and unity.
