Xi Jinping Praises China’s Progress Amid Challenges in the Year of the Dragon

At a high-level reception in Beijing on Monday, Chinese President Xi Jinping lauded the nation's solid progress over the past year despite facing complex and challenging situations. The event was held by the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee and the State Council to usher in the Year of the Snake, which begins on January 29.

\"In the Year of the Dragon, we demonstrated vitality and a can-do spirit. We endured storms and saw the rainbow,\" Xi said, addressing over 2,000 attendees at the reception. Xi, who is also general secretary of the CPC Central Committee and chairman of the Central Military Commission, highlighted the country's achievements in advancing Chinese modernization.

Faced with numerous challenges over the past 12 months, China responded with composure and implemented a range of comprehensive measures. \"We overcame difficulties and forged ahead with determination,\" Xi remarked, emphasizing the nation's resilience and commitment to progress.

Xi extended Spring Festival greetings to the Chinese people of all ethnic groups, as well as compatriots in the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, the Macao Special Administrative Region, Taiwan, and overseas Chinese. He acknowledged their contributions and encouraged unity in the pursuit of national development.

Over the past year, China effectively implemented existing policies and proactively introduced a package of incremental measures to promote economic recovery. \"We achieved remarkable progress in technological and industrial innovation, with new quality productive forces forging ahead steadily,\" Xi stated. He noted that employment and consumer prices remained stable, reflecting the overall health of the economy.

As China prepares to enter the Year of the Snake, Xi urged continued efforts to navigate challenges and pursue modernization. The President's remarks underscored a message of optimism and determination as the nation looks forward to the year ahead.
