Xi Jinping Hails China’s Achievements in Year of the Dragon, Welcomes Year of the Snake

At a high-level reception held by the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee and the State Council on Monday, Chinese President Xi Jinping praised the nation's solid progress over the past year despite facing \"complex and challenging\" situations.

\"In the Year of the Dragon, we demonstrated vitality and a can-do spirit. We endured storms and saw the rainbow,\" said Xi, who is also general secretary of the CPC Central Committee and chairman of the Central Military Commission.

The reception, attended by over 2,000 people, was held to usher in the Year of the Snake, which begins on January 29. Xi extended Spring Festival greetings to the Chinese people of all ethnic groups, compatriots in the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, the Macao Special Administrative Region, Taiwan, and overseas Chinese.

Reflecting on the past year, Xi noted that China responded with composure to complex and challenging situations, implementing a range of comprehensive measures. \"We overcame difficulties and forged ahead with determination,\" he said.

Xi highlighted China's effective implementation of existing policies and proactive introduction of incremental measures, which helped promote economic recovery. He also emphasized remarkable progress in technological and industrial innovation, noting that new productive forces are steadily advancing. Additionally, China's employment and consumer prices remained stable over the past year.
