Xi Jinping Praises China’s Progress Amid Challenges in the Year of the Dragon

Chinese President Xi Jinping has lauded the nation's significant strides in advancing Chinese modernization over the past year, despite facing \"complex and challenging\" circumstances. Speaking at a high-level reception on Monday to ring in the Chinese New Year, Xi highlighted the country's resilience and determination.

\"In the Year of the Dragon, we demonstrated vitality and a can-do spirit. We endured storms and saw the rainbow,\" said Xi Jinping, who is also general secretary of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee and chairman of the Central Military Commission.

At the reception held by the CPC Central Committee and the State Council to usher in the Year of the Snake, which begins on January 29, Xi reflected on China's composed response to various challenges. \"Faced with complex and challenging situations, China responded with composure and implemented a range of comprehensive measures, overcame difficulties and forged ahead with determination,\" he said.

The event, attended by over 2,000 people, saw Xi extend Spring Festival greetings to Chinese people of all ethnic groups, compatriots in the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, the Macao Special Administrative Region, Taiwan region, and overseas Chinese communities.

Over the past year, China effectively implemented existing policies and proactively introduced a package of incremental policies, which Xi noted helped promote the recovery of the economy. \"China achieved remarkable progress in technological and industrial innovation, with new quality productive forces forging ahead steadily,\" he said. He also emphasized that employment rates and consumer prices remained stable throughout the year.

Xi's remarks come at a time when China's economy has been navigating global uncertainties and domestic challenges. The leadership's focus on modernization and innovation has been central to the country's development strategy.

\"The progress we have made is a testament to the strength and resilience of the Chinese people,\" Xi stated. \"As we welcome the Year of the Snake, we must continue to work hard, stay united, and strive for new achievements.\"

As China steps into the new year, the nation's leadership emphasizes the continuation of policies aimed at fostering economic growth, technological advancement, and social cohesion. The collective spirit celebrated during the Spring Festival serves as a reminder of the shared goals and aspirations that unite the country.
