Xi Jinping Sends New Year Greetings to Iowa Friends, Emphasizes China-U.S. Friendship

Chinese President Xi Jinping has sent a Chinese New Year card to friends in the U.S. state of Iowa, expressing warm sentiments and highlighting the importance of China-U.S. relations.

In his message, President Xi reminisced about his visit to Iowa 40 years ago, stating that the warm reception he received is still vivid in his memory. He emphasized that China and the United States share extensive common interests and have broad space for cooperation, suggesting that the two nations can become partners and friends.

Xi expressed hope that the peoples of both countries will engage in more visits and exchanges, jointly writing new stories of friendship and contributing to the development of China-U.S. relations.

Earlier, a group of 58 individuals from Iowa, including friends Luca Berrone, Gary Dvorchak, and Sarah Lande; former U.S. Ambassador to China Terry Branstad and his wife; former President of the World Food Prize Foundation Kenneth Quinn; as well as teachers, students, and parents involved in the \"50,000 in Five Years\" initiative, sent a Chinese New Year card to President Xi.

In their card, they recalled Xi's first visit to Iowa in 1985 and extended New Year greetings for the Year of the Snake. The group expressed gratitude for the \"50,000 in Five Years\" initiative, shared their experiences visiting China, and conveyed their hopes to return.

The exchange of New Year greetings highlights the enduring personal connections between President Xi and the people of Iowa, underscoring the potential for strengthened ties between China and the United States through people-to-people exchanges.
