Xi Jinping Lauds China’s Progress Amid Challenges in Year of the Dragon

Chinese President Xi Jinping on Monday praised China's solid progress in advancing Chinese modernization during the Year of the Dragon, despite facing complex and challenging situations over the past 12 months. Speaking at a high-level reception to celebrate the upcoming Chinese New Year, Xi highlighted the nation's vitality and resilience.

\"In the Year of the Dragon, we demonstrated vitality and a can-do spirit. We endured storms and saw the rainbow,\" Xi said. Xi, who is also general secretary of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee and chairman of the Central Military Commission, emphasized the nation's ability to overcome difficulties and forge ahead with determination.

The reception, held by the CPC Central Committee and the State Council to usher in the Year of the Snake, which begins on January 29, was attended by over 2,000 people. Xi extended Spring Festival greetings to the Chinese people of all ethnic groups, compatriots in the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, the Macao Special Administrative Region, Taiwan region, and overseas Chinese.

Reflecting on the past year, Xi noted that China effectively implemented existing policies and proactively introduced a package of incremental policies, which helped promote economic recovery. \"China responded with composure and implemented a range of comprehensive measures,\" he said.

Xi also highlighted the remarkable progress in technological and industrial innovation, with new quality productive forces advancing steadily. He pointed out that China's employment and consumer prices remained stable, showcasing the nation's economic resilience.

\"Faced with complex and challenging situations, we overcame difficulties and forged ahead with determination,\" Xi concluded, expressing confidence in China's future as the nation enters the Year of the Snake.
