Chinese President Xi Jinping praised China's significant strides in advancing Chinese modernization over the past year, despite facing \"complex and challenging\" situations. Speaking at a high-level reception on Monday to welcome the Chinese New Year, Xi highlighted the nation's resilience and determination.
\"In the Year of the Dragon, we demonstrated vitality and a can-do spirit. We endured storms and saw the rainbow,\" Xi said. He emphasized that China responded to difficulties with composure, implementing comprehensive measures to overcome obstacles and forge ahead.
The reception, held by the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee and the State Council, aimed to usher in the Year of the Snake, which begins on January 29. Over 2,000 attendees gathered as Xi extended Spring Festival greetings to the Chinese people of all ethnic groups, compatriots in the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, the Macao Special Administrative Region, Taiwan, and overseas Chinese.
Xi noted that China effectively implemented existing policies and proactively introduced a package of incremental measures, promoting economic recovery. \"We achieved remarkable progress in technological and industrial innovation, with new quality productive forces forging ahead steadily,\" he stated. He also highlighted the stability of employment and consumer prices throughout the year.
Looking ahead, Xi called for continued unity and perseverance. \"Facing the future, we must strengthen our confidence and work together to achieve new victories on the road of Chinese modernization,\" he urged.
