2025 CMG Spring Festival Gala Melds Tradition with Innovation

The 2025 China Media Group (CMG) Spring Festival Gala, a highlight of Chinese New Year celebrations, is entering its final rehearsal phase. Known as Chunwan in China, this annual extravaganza blends innovation with tradition, captivating audiences both within China and around the globe.

On January 22, the gala completed its fourth rehearsal, finalizing a lineup that promises to be both immersive and interactive. Incorporating cutting-edge AR and VR technology, the show will merge classic performances—songs, dances, skits, and crosstalk—with modern elements designed to engage a broad audience, particularly younger generations.

Adding to the festive spirit, the gala has unveiled its official mascot, \"Si Sheng Sheng,\" a vibrant green snake symbolizing the Year of the Snake. Inspired by traditional Chinese culture, the mascot features intricate details such as spiral patterns from a gilded silver \"Ruyi\" discovered in northwest China's Shaanxi's Famen Temple, symbolizing prosperity. The snake's body is adorned with interwoven vines representing vitality and embellished with flowers like begonia, magnolia, and peony, crafted using exquisite filigree techniques. This thoughtful design seamlessly blends heritage with artistry, encapsulating the celebratory essence of the Spring Festival.
