Xi Jinping Sends Chinese New Year Greetings to Friends in Iowa

Chinese President Xi Jinping has sent a Chinese New Year card to friends in the U.S. state of Iowa, expressing his warm wishes and emphasizing the importance of friendship and cooperation between China and the United States.

In the card sent on Monday, President Xi recalled with fondness his visit to the beautiful state of Iowa 40 years ago, noting that the warm reception he received is still fresh in his memory. He highlighted the extensive common interests and broad space for cooperation that China and the United States share, emphasizing that the two nations can become partners and friends, achieving mutual success and common prosperity for the benefit of both countries and the world at large.

President Xi expressed his hope that the peoples of China and the United States will engage in more visits and exchanges, jointly writing new stories of friendship and making new contributions to the development of China-U.S. relations.

Earlier, a group of 58 people from Iowa, including friends Luca Berrone, Gary Dvorchak, and Sarah Lande; former U.S. Ambassador to China Terry Branstad and his wife; former President of the World Food Prize Foundation Kenneth Quinn; and representatives of teachers, students, and parents from Iowa who participated in the \"50,000 in Five Years\" initiative, jointly sent a Chinese New Year card to President Xi.

In their card, they recalled President Xi's first visit to Iowa in 1985 and extended their warm New Year greetings for the Year of the Snake. The representatives of teachers, students, and parents expressed gratitude for the \"50,000 in Five Years\" initiative, shared their experiences of visiting China, and conveyed their eagerness to visit China again.

The exchange of greetings highlights the enduring friendship between the people of China and Iowa, fostering goodwill and cultural understanding. Such personal connections underscore the potential for deeper ties and collaboration between the two nations.
