Xi Jinping Sends New Year Card to Iowa Friends, Highlights China-US Friendship

Beijing, January 21 — Chinese President Xi Jinping has sent a heartfelt Chinese New Year card to his friends in the U.S. state of Iowa, reaffirming the deep bonds and shared interests between China and the United States.

In his message, President Xi reminisced about his visit to the picturesque state of Iowa 40 years ago, noting that the warm hospitality he received remains vivid in his memory. He emphasized that China and the United States share extensive common interests and ample opportunities for cooperation, positioning them as natural partners and friends.

\"China and the United States can achieve mutual success and common prosperity for the benefit of both countries and the world at large,\" Xi stated, expressing optimism for the future of bilateral relations.

The Chinese leader conveyed his hope for increased exchanges between the peoples of both nations. He encouraged more visits and interactions, aiming to \"jointly write new stories of friendship\" and contribute to the development of China-U.S. relations.

The New Year card was a response to a collective greeting sent earlier by 58 Iowans, including friends Luca Berrone, Gary Dvorchak, and Sarah Lande; former U.S. Ambassador to China Terry Branstad and his wife; former President of the World Food Prize Foundation Kenneth Quinn; as well as teachers, students, and parents involved in the \"50,000 in Five Years\" exchange initiative. They recalled President Xi's initial visit to Iowa in 1985 and extended their warm wishes for the Year of the Snake.

The educators, students, and parents expressed gratitude for the opportunity provided by the \"50,000 in Five Years\" initiative, sharing heartfelt reflections on their experiences in China and their eagerness to return.
