Xi Jinping Praises China’s Progress Amid Challenges at Lunar New Year Reception

Chinese President Xi Jinping highlighted China's solid progress in advancing Chinese modernization over the past 12 months, despite facing complex and challenging situations. Speaking at a high-level reception on Monday to ring in the Chinese New Year, Xi praised the nation's resilience and determination.

\"In the Year of the Dragon, we demonstrated vitality and a can-do spirit. We endured storms and saw the rainbow,\" Xi said at the event held by the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee and the State Council. The reception was organized to usher in the Year of the Snake, which begins on January 29.

Xi, who also serves as general secretary of the CPC Central Committee and chairman of the Central Military Commission, noted that China responded with composure to the challenges it faced. \"We implemented a range of comprehensive measures, overcame difficulties, and forged ahead with determination,\" he stated.

Attended by over 2,000 people, the reception saw Xi extend Spring Festival greetings to the Chinese people of all ethnic groups, compatriots in the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, the Macao Special Administrative Region, Taiwan, and overseas Chinese.

Over the past year, China effectively implemented existing policies and proactively introduced a package of incremental measures that helped promote economic recovery, Xi said. He highlighted the country's remarkable progress in technological and industrial innovation, with new productive forces advancing steadily.

\"China's employment and consumer prices remained stable,\" Xi added, emphasizing the nation's commitment to maintaining economic stability amidst global uncertainties.

As China ushers in the Year of the Snake, Xi expressed confidence in the country's ability to continue its journey toward modernization and prosperity. He called on all Chinese people to unite and work together to achieve the nation's goals.
