Xi Jinping Celebrates China’s Progress Amid Challenges in Year of the Dragon

At a high-level reception on Monday to ring in the Chinese New Year, Chinese President Xi Jinping lauded the nation\u2019s solid progress in advancing Chinese modernization over the past 12 months, despite facing \"complex and challenging\" situations.

\"In the Year of the Dragon, we demonstrated vitality and a can-do spirit. We endured storms and saw the rainbow,\" Xi said at the reception held by the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee and the State Council, ushering in the upcoming Year of the Snake, which begins on January 29.

Xi, who is also general secretary of the CPC Central Committee and chairman of the Central Military Commission, highlighted China's composure in the face of challenges, noting that the country implemented comprehensive measures, overcame difficulties, and forged ahead with determination.

Attended by over 2,000 people, the reception saw Xi extending Spring Festival greetings to the Chinese people of all ethnic groups, compatriots in the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, the Macao Special Administrative Region, Taiwan region, and overseas Chinese.

\"Over the past year, China effectively implemented existing policies and proactively introduced a package of incremental policies, which helped promote the recovery of the economy,\" Xi said.

He emphasized the remarkable progress achieved in technological and industrial innovation, with new quality productive forces steadily advancing. Xi also noted that China's employment and consumer prices remained stable throughout the year.

The president's remarks underscore China's commitment to modernization and resilience in the face of global challenges, setting a hopeful tone for the new lunar year.
