Wang Yi Calls for Enhanced China-India Mutual Understanding

Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi has called on China and India to explore more substantial measures to promote mutual understanding and support. Meeting with Indian Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri in Beijing on Monday, Wang emphasized the importance of the two nations refraining from mutual suspicion and estrangement.

\"The improvement and development of China-India relations fully align with the fundamental interests of both countries and their peoples,\" Wang noted. \"It is conducive to safeguarding the legitimate rights and interests of Global South countries and contributes to peace, stability, and prosperity in Asia and the world.\"

Wang, who is also a member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, highlighted the significance of fostering stronger ties between the neighboring countries. He urged both sides to work toward building trust and overcoming historical challenges.

Indian Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri echoed Wang's sentiments, acknowledging the positive dialogues and communications that have recently taken place. \"We have properly managed and resolved differences and promoted the resumption of practical cooperation in various fields,\" Misri stated.

Misri expressed India's willingness to collaborate with China in celebrating the 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations. He also pledged India's full support for China in its role as the rotating chair of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization.

The meeting between the two officials signals a mutual desire to strengthen bilateral ties and enhance collaboration on regional and global issues.
