Chinese Premier Li Qiang Calls for Strengthened China-Russia Collaboration at SCO Meeting

Chinese Premier Li Qiang on Wednesday called for strengthened collaboration and communication between China and Russia during a meeting with Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin. The meeting took place on the sidelines of the 23rd Meeting of the Council of Heads of Government of Member States of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) in Islamabad.

Premier Li emphasized the importance of mutual support on issues concerning each other's core interests, highlighting the continuous advancement of practical cooperation between the two nations. He praised the fruitful strategic partnership and the flourishing people-to-people and sub-national exchanges that have bolstered bilateral ties.

\"China is ready to work with Russia to further implement the important consensus reached by our two heads of state,\" Li said. \"We aim to expand mutually beneficial cooperation and contribute to the development and revitalization of both countries, promoting world prosperity and stability.\"

Li underscored China's commitment to deepening cooperation in traditional sectors such as economy, trade, and energy. He also expressed eagerness to advance collaboration in emerging areas, including the digital economy, to enhance bilateral cooperation in industrial and supply chains.

The Chinese premier called on both countries to promote the SCO member states in upholding the \"Shanghai Spirit,\" strengthening mutual strategic trust, and adhering to principles of mutual benefit and win-win results. \"This will lead to a more dynamic SCO with pragmatic cooperation and universally beneficial outcomes,\" he added.

Russian Prime Minister Mishustin expressed Russia's willingness to work closely with China to enhance the alignment between the Belt and Road Initiative and the Eurasian Economic Union. He highlighted the importance of deepening practical cooperation in fields such as energy, transportation, and agriculture.

\"We are committed to maintaining close collaboration within frameworks such as the United Nations, the SCO, and BRICS,\" Mishustin said, emphasizing the shared goals and strategic partnership between Russia and China.
