Chinese President Xi Jinping, also general secretary of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee and chairman of the Central Military Commission (CMC), inspected the Chinese People's Liberation Army (PLA) Northern Theater Command on Friday ahead of the Spring Festival.
During his visit, President Xi extended festive greetings to service personnel of the PLA and the People's Armed Police Force, civilian personnel posted in the military, and members of militia and reserve forces on behalf of the CPC Central Committee and the CMC. The Spring Festival, the Chinese Lunar New Year, falls on January 29 this year.
On Friday morning, President Xi met with officers and soldiers of the PLA Northern Theater Command. He later spoke via video link to representatives of troops across the military. Officers and soldiers briefed him on their combat readiness duties and mission execution status, which he fully acknowledged.
President Xi emphasized the importance of bolstering combat readiness duties to effectively respond to any emergencies and to safeguard national security and social stability during the holidays. He urged the troops to remain vigilant and ensure they are prepared to protect the nation during the festive period.
