Xi's Liaoning Visit: Touch of Warmth, Reflection of Commitment

President Xi Jinping recently toured Liaoning Province in northeast China, emphasizing disaster recovery, urban renewal, and industrial advancement. This visit marked his first domestic inspection in 2025 and continued his tradition of visiting grassroots communities ahead of the Spring Festival for the 13th consecutive year. It was also his fourth visit to Liaoning since the 18th National Congress of the Communist Party of China (CPC) in 2012.

On January 22, Xi visited Zhujiagou, a village in Huludao, one of the areas hardest hit by the unprecedented torrential downpours in the summer floods of 2024. In response to the disaster, the village committee swiftly constructed new homes for severely affected households on higher ground. These homes were tailored to each family's size and needs, and within less than two months, nearly 200 disaster-stricken residents had a warm home before the onset of winter.

During his visit, Xi inspected the progress of post-disaster restoration, visiting the homes of relocated villagers and inquiring about the quality of the new houses and provisions for daily life. His concern for the people's well-being was evident as he emphasized the importance of ensuring and improving livelihoods.

On January 23, Xi visited the Chang'an community in Shenyang, Liaoning's capital, to observe how public services are being optimized to enhance residents' quality of life. Since 2023, the community has been renovating old residential areas—upgrading all 13 residential buildings and public areas. Initiatives promoting quality employment, education, health services, and elderly care have also been launched to support the residents.

Xi also toured a cold rolling mill of the Bensteel Group in Benxi, gaining insights into the company's efforts to accelerate transformation and upgrading to promote high-quality development.
