On Saturday, Xi, who also serves as General Secretary of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, exchanged congratulations with General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam Central Committee To Lam and Vietnamese President Luong Cuong on the 75th anniversary of diplomatic ties between the two nations.
Xi highlighted the deep-rooted friendship between China and Vietnam, describing them as \"friendly socialist neighbors\" and \"comrades and brothers.\" He noted that since establishing diplomatic relations 75 years ago, both countries have supported each other in their struggles for national independence and liberation.
\"So profound is the friendship between Vietnam and China because we are both comrades and brothers,\" Xi said, underscoring the strong ties between the two parties and countries.
The Chinese leader reflected on his successful visit to Vietnam in 2023, during which both sides pledged to enhance their strategic cooperation and elevate their relationship to a new stage. He emphasized that China and Vietnam share common ideals and are committed to advancing socialism together.
\"As changes of the world, of the times, and of history are unfolding in unprecedented ways, China and Vietnam continuing to follow in good faith the path of socialism has a bearing on the future of the two parties and countries as well as the future of the global socialist cause,\" Xi stated. He added that this cooperation is significant for peace, stability, development, and prosperity in the region and the world.
Xi expressed his readiness to work with Vietnamese leaders to deepen strategic mutual trust and strengthen practical cooperation. He called for both nations to seize the opportunity presented by the 75th anniversary of diplomatic ties and the China-Vietnam Year of People-to-People Exchanges to forge ahead on the journey toward socialist modernization.
