Firefighters Cook for Quake-Affected Villagers in Xizang’s Dingri County

More than a week has passed since a magnitude-6.8 earthquake struck Dingri County in southwest China's Xizang Autonomous Region on January 7. The quake left many villagers facing significant challenges as resettlement and reconstruction efforts continue.

In the midst of these efforts, the firefighters of the Xizang Forest Firefighting Special Operations Unit have taken on an unexpected role. At Cuo'ang Village in Quluo Town, Dingri County, these brave men and women are not only safeguarding the area but also lending a helping hand to the displaced villagers by preparing warm meals.

\"We want to do everything we can to support the community,\" said a firefighter from the unit. \"Cooking meals is a small gesture, but it brings comfort and a sense of normalcy to those affected.\"

Our reporter, Zhao Chenchen, visited the frontline to witness the camaraderie and resilience of both the firefighters and the villagers. The scent of freshly cooked food filled the air as firefighters stirred large pots over open flames, preparing a hearty lunch for everyone.

Villagers expressed their gratitude for the firefighters' kindness. \"They have been a tremendous help,\" one resident said. \"Not only are they ensuring our safety, but they're also making sure we don't go hungry during this difficult time.\"

The collaborative efforts between the local residents and the firefighters highlight the strength and unity within the community as they work together to rebuild and recover from the earthquake's aftermath.
