On Friday, President Xi Jinping inspected the Chinese People's Liberation Army (PLA) Northern Theater Command ahead of the upcoming Spring Festival. As general secretary of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee and chairman of the Central Military Commission (CMC), President Xi extended festive greetings to service personnel of the PLA, the People's Armed Police Force, civilian personnel posted in the military, and members of the militia and reserve forces on behalf of the CPC Central Committee and the CMC.
The Spring Festival, marking the Chinese Lunar New Year, falls on January 29 this year. During his visit on Friday morning, President Xi met with officers and soldiers of the PLA Northern Theater Command. He also spoke with representatives of troops across the military via video link.
Officers and soldiers briefed President Xi on their combat readiness duties and mission execution status. Acknowledging their efforts, President Xi praised their dedication and contributions.
He emphasized the importance of bolstering the enforcement of combat readiness duties, urging the troops to effectively respond to any emergencies. President Xi highlighted the need to safeguard national security and maintain social stability during the holiday period.
