Beijing, January XX, 2023—Xi Jinping, General Secretary of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee, extended warm Spring Festival greetings on Monday to members of non-CPC political parties, the All-China Federation of Industry and Commerce (ACFIC), personages without party affiliation, and other members of the united front.
During an annual gathering at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing, Xi, who is also Chinese President and Chairman of the Central Military Commission, conveyed his festive wishes ahead of the Spring Festival, which falls on January 29 this year.
In his address, Xi emphasized China's commitment to implementing more proactive and impactful macroeconomic policies. He underscored the focus on high-quality development and promoting greater self-reliance and strength in science and technology to sustain sound social and economic progress in 2025.
\"Achieving the targets set in the 14th Five-Year Plan is crucial,\" Xi stated. He called upon non-CPC political parties, the ACFIC, and personages without party affiliation to concentrate on central tasks, serve the country's overall interests, and leverage their unique strengths. \"By rallying broader support, building consensus, and pooling wisdom and strength, we can lay a solid foundation for the next five years,\" he said.
Xi encouraged non-CPC personages to mobilize all positive forces to advance development, actively contribute to comprehensively deepening reform, and promote high-quality development. He also urged them to formulate insightful proposals for the upcoming 15th Five-Year Plan (2026–2030).
Addressing environmental concerns, Xi stressed the need to tackle critical and challenging problems in the supervision of the Yangtze River ecosystem's protection. He highlighted the importance of sustainable development and ecological preservation.
Furthermore, Xi called on the ACFIC to guide the private sector in maintaining enthusiasm for entrepreneurship and bolstering confidence in development. He emphasized the need to establish and improve modern corporate systems with distinctive Chinese features.
The annual gathering serves as a platform for fostering unity and collaboration among various political parties and social groups within China. It reflects the nation's commitment to inclusive development and collective progress as it embarks on a new year.
