Xi Jinping Extends Spring Festival Greetings to Non-CPC Personages

On Monday, Xi Jinping, General Secretary of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee, extended festive greetings to members of non-CPC political parties, the All-China Federation of Industry and Commerce (ACFIC), personages without party affiliation, and other members of the united front ahead of the Spring Festival.

Xi, who is also Chinese President and Chairman of the Central Military Commission, conveyed his wishes during the annual gathering held at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing. The Spring Festival, also known as the Chinese Lunar New Year, falls on January 29 this year.

During the event, Xi emphasized China's commitment to implementing more proactive and impactful macroeconomic policies. He highlighted the nation's focus on high-quality development and the promotion of greater self-reliance and strength in science and technology to ensure sustained social and economic progress in 2025.

He called upon non-CPC political parties, the ACFIC, and personages without party affiliation to concentrate on central tasks, serve the country's overarching interests, and leverage their unique strengths. Xi encouraged them to rally broader support, build consensus, and pool wisdom and strength to contribute to the nation's development.

Xi underscored the importance of achieving the targets set in the 14th Five-Year Plan (2021–2025) and laying a solid foundation for the next five years. He expressed hope that non-CPC personages would mobilize all positive forces to advance development, actively contribute to comprehensively deepening reform, promote high-quality development, and formulate proposals for the 15th Five-Year Plan (2026–2030).

Addressing environmental concerns, Xi stressed the need to tackle critical and challenging problems in the protection of the Yangtze River ecosystem. He highlighted the significance of safeguarding the environment as part of China's sustainable development goals.

Regarding the private sector, Xi noted that the ACFIC should guide private businesses in maintaining enthusiasm for entrepreneurship and bolstering confidence in development. He urged the establishment and improvement of modern corporate systems with distinctive Chinese features to enhance the private sector's contribution to the economy.
