In a festive gathering at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing, Xi Jinping, general secretary of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee, extended warm Spring Festival greetings to members of non-CPC political parties, the All-China Federation of Industry and Commerce (ACFIC), personages without party affiliation, and other united front members.
Xi, who is also the Chinese president and chairman of the Central Military Commission, conveyed his best wishes ahead of the Lunar New Year, which falls on January 29 this year. The annual event serves as a platform to strengthen unity and collaboration among various political and social groups in China.
During his address, Xi emphasized China's commitment to implementing more proactive and impactful macroeconomic policies. He highlighted the nation's focus on high-quality development and the promotion of greater self-reliance in science and technology to ensure sustainable social and economic progress in 2025.
\"We must harness the unique strengths of our united front to rally broader support, build consensus, and pool wisdom and strength,\" Xi said. He called on non-CPC political parties, the ACFIC, and personages without party affiliation to concentrate on central tasks and serve the country's overarching interests.
Xi underscored the importance of achieving the targets set in the 14th Five-Year Plan (2021–2025) and laying a solid foundation for the next five-year plan. He expressed hope that non-CPC personages would mobilize all positive forces to advance development, contribute to deepening reforms, promote high-quality development, and participate actively in formulating proposals for the 15th Five-Year Plan (2026–2030).
Addressing environmental concerns, Xi stressed the need to tackle critical challenges in protecting the Yangtze River ecosystem. \"Safeguarding our natural resources is essential for the sustainable development of our nation,\" he stated.
Xi also urged the ACFIC to guide the private sector in maintaining enthusiasm for entrepreneurship, bolstering confidence in development, and establishing modern corporate systems with distinctive Chinese features. \"The private sector plays a crucial role in our economy. We must support its growth and innovation,\" he added.
The event highlighted the Chinese leadership's focus on unity, development, and innovation as the nation moves forward into the new year. The collaborative efforts of various social and political groups are seen as vital in achieving China's ambitious goals for the future.
