More than a week has passed since a magnitude-6.8 earthquake struck Dingri County in southwest China's Xizang Autonomous Region on January 7. As resettlement and reconstruction efforts continue, stories of compassion and community emerge from the affected areas.
In Cuo'ang Village, Quluo Town, Dingri County, firefighters from the Xizang Forest Firefighting Special Operations Unit have gone beyond their call of duty. Our reporter, Zhao Chenchen, witnessed firsthand how these brave individuals are supporting villagers by preparing lunch for them amidst the ongoing recovery efforts.
\"We want to do everything we can to help the villagers during this difficult time,\" said a firefighter from the unit. The team set up makeshift kitchens and worked together to cook hot meals, ensuring that those affected by the earthquake receive nourishment and comfort.
The villagers expressed their gratitude for the assistance. \"Their support means so much to us,\" said one resident. \"Not only are they helping rebuild our homes, but they are also caring for our well-being.\"
As reconstruction progresses, the collective efforts of rescue teams and local communities highlight the resilience and solidarity within the region. The firefighters' actions exemplify the spirit of unity that is aiding Dingri County's journey towards recovery.
