Firefighters Cook Lunch for Quake-Affected Villagers in Xizang’s Dingri County

More than a week has passed since a magnitude-6.8 earthquake struck Dingri County in southwest China's Xizang Autonomous Region on January 7. The quake left many villagers displaced, and resettlement and reconstruction efforts are still underway.

In the midst of these challenging times, members of the Xizang Forest Firefighting Special Operations Unit have been stepping up to provide support beyond their usual duties. At Cuo'ang Village in Quluo Town, Dingri County, the firefighters have taken on the role of community caregivers, preparing and serving meals to the affected villagers.

\"We want to do everything we can to help the residents feel cared for during this difficult period,\" said one of the firefighters as he stirred a large pot over an open flame. The aroma of freshly cooked food filled the air, bringing a sense of comfort to those who have lost so much.

Our reporter, Zhao Chenchen, was on the scene to witness the camaraderie and resilience of the community. Villagers gathered around the makeshift kitchen, sharing stories and offering support to one another as they waited for lunch to be served.

\"Their kindness means a lot to us,\" said a resident of Cuo'ang Village. \"It gives us strength to rebuild our homes and our lives.\"

The firefighters' efforts exemplify the spirit of solidarity that has emerged in the aftermath of the earthquake. As rescue and reconstruction continue, acts of compassion like these play a crucial role in healing and recovery.

The local authorities are coordinating with various organizations to ensure that all necessary resources are available to those affected. With the support of dedicated individuals and communities pulling together, Dingri County is on the path to restoration.
