Channels of communication with the European Union (EU) on intellectual property issues remain open, the Chinese Ministry of Commerce announced on Monday. The statement comes in response to the EU's recent complaint filed at the World Trade Organization (WTO) against China's judicial rulings on standard essential patent disputes.
On January 20, China received a consultation request from the EU regarding the matter. The ministry, addressing media inquiries, emphasized China's strict adherence to WTO rules and its accession commitments. It highlighted the nation's continuous efforts to improve legislation and law enforcement related to the protection of intellectual property rights, achievements that have been widely recognized globally.
The ministry stated that China will manage subsequent proceedings in accordance with WTO rules, firmly safeguarding its legitimate rights and interests. The openness to dialogue underscores China's commitment to resolving trade disputes through constructive communication and international regulations.
