Chinese President Xi Jinping recently embarked on his first domestic inspection of 2025, visiting Liaoning Province in northeast China. His tour emphasized disaster recovery, urban renewal, and industrial advancement, showcasing his unwavering commitment to the well-being of the Chinese people.
This visit marks the 13th consecutive year that President Xi has reached out to grassroots communities ahead of the Spring Festival, China's most significant annual celebration. It also signifies his fourth trip to Liaoning since the 18th National Congress of the Communist Party of China in 2012, highlighting the province's importance in China's development.
On January 22, President Xi traveled to Zhujiagou, a village in Huludao City that was severely affected by unprecedented torrential downpours during the summer floods of 2024. The disaster had left many families homeless and in distress.
In response to the crisis, the village committee acted swiftly to rebuild. New homes were constructed on higher ground, tailored to each family's needs. In less than two months, a rejuvenated Zhujiagou Village emerged, providing nearly 200 displaced residents with warm homes before the harsh winter arrived.
During his visit, President Xi inspected the progress of post-disaster restoration. He visited the homes of relocated villagers, inquiring about the quality of their new houses and how their daily lives were faring. His presence brought comfort and reaffirmed the government's dedication to supporting those in need.
President Xi's concern for the people's well-being has been a consistent theme throughout his leadership. As early as the 2013 National People's Congress, he emphasized the importance of improving livelihoods while participating in discussions with the Liaoning delegation. He urged officials to focus on those facing difficulties and to deliver tangible benefits to the populace.
On January 23, President Xi visited the Chang'an community in Shenyang, the capital of Liaoning Province, to observe efforts to optimize public services and enhance residents' quality of life. Since 2023, the community has been renovating old residential areas. All 13 residential buildings and public spaces have been upgraded, and initiatives promoting quality employment, education, healthcare, and elderly care have been implemented.
Furthermore, President Xi toured a cold rolling mill of the Bensteel Group in the city of Benxi. He gained insights into the company's efforts to accelerate transformation, upgrade its operations, and promote high-quality development within the steel industry.
President Xi's visit to Liaoning Province underscores his dedication to prioritizing the needs of the people and fostering sustainable development. His hands-on approach and attentive interactions with local communities highlight a leadership style that places the well-being of citizens at the forefront of China's progress.
