On Monday, Xi Jinping, General Secretary of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee, extended festive greetings to members of non-CPC political parties, the All-China Federation of Industry and Commerce (ACFIC), personages without party affiliation, and other members of the united front ahead of the Spring Festival.

Speaking at an annual gathering held at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing, Xi, who is also the Chinese President and Chairman of the Central Military Commission, conveyed his warm wishes as the nation prepares to celebrate the Lunar New Year on January 29.

During the event, Xi emphasized China's commitment to implementing more proactive and impactful macroeconomic policies in the coming year. He highlighted the importance of focusing on high-quality development and promoting greater self-reliance and strength in science and technology to sustain sound social and economic growth in 2025.

Xi called upon non-CPC political parties, the ACFIC, and personages without party affiliation to align their efforts with the central tasks of the country. He urged them to serve the nation's overall interests by leveraging their unique strengths to rally broader support, build consensus, and pool wisdom and strength.

Underscoring the significance of achieving the targets set in the 14th Five-Year Plan (2021–2025), Xi noted that reaching these goals by 2025 would lay a solid foundation for the subsequent five years. He expressed hope that non-CPC personages would mobilize all positive forces to advance development and actively contribute to comprehensively deepening reform, promoting high-quality development, and formulating proposals for the 15th Five-Year Plan (2026–2030).

Xi also stressed the need to address critical and challenging problems in the supervision of the Yangtze River ecosystem's protection. Emphasizing ecological conservation, he highlighted the importance of safeguarding this vital waterway's environmental health.

Addressing the ACFIC, Xi encouraged guiding the private sector to maintain enthusiasm for entrepreneurship and bolster confidence in development. He urged the establishment and improvement of modern corporate systems with distinctive Chinese features to enhance the private economy's role in national development.
