Xi Jinping, general secretary of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee, on Wednesday braved the cold to visit residents affected by floods in a village in northeast China's Liaoning Province.
In the village of Zhujiagou, under the administration of Suizhong County, Huludao City, Xi walked through the snow-covered streets, meeting with villagers who have been impacted by recent flooding. He expressed his concern for their well-being and assured them of the government's commitment to restoring normalcy in the region.
"The safety and livelihood of the people are always my top priorities," Xi told the villagers. "We will make every effort to ensure that you have a safe and joyful Spring Festival."
Xi's visit comes ahead of the Spring Festival, the most significant traditional festival for the Chinese people, which falls on January 29 this year. Despite the freezing temperatures, his presence brought warmth and hope to the community as they prepare for the festive season amidst the challenges posed by the floods.
