Han Zheng Meets U.S. Business Leaders to Strengthen China-U.S. Relations

Chinese Vice President Han Zheng met with representatives of the U.S. business community on Sunday, expressing hope that American companies will continue to invest and establish deeper roots in China. The meeting aimed to enhance mutual understanding and contribute to the steady, sound, and sustainable development of China-U.S. relations.

Han Zheng highlighted the recent phone conversation between President Xi Jinping and U.S. President-elect Donald Trump, during which they reached important common understandings on developing bilateral relations. He emphasized, \"Getting the bilateral relationship off to a good start and keeping it growing steadily serve the common well-being of the peoples of the two countries and meet the expectation of the international community.\"

Noting the broad common interests and vast potential for cooperation, Han recognized the U.S. business community as a vital participant, witness, contributor, and beneficiary of China-U.S. economic and trade cooperation, as well as China's reform and opening-up efforts. He assured that China would continue to advance these reforms and improve its business environment.

Representatives from the U.S.-China Business Council and the U.S. Chamber of Commerce responded positively, stating that the recent dialogue between Trump and Xi sent an encouraging message. They expressed optimism about China's economic prospects and development opportunities, advocating for strengthened dialogue and communication to advance bilateral relations and economic and trade cooperation.

\"As the world's two most dynamic and technologically advanced economies, the U.S. and China should pursue mutually beneficial cooperation and work towards finding a constructive and stable way to coexist,\" they asserted.

Han Zheng also met with Tesla CEO Elon Musk during his visit. He welcomed American companies like Tesla to seize opportunities in China's development and contribute to promoting economic and trade relations between the two nations. Musk expressed readiness to deepen investment and cooperation with China, aiming to play an active role in enhancing economic exchanges.

Han is visiting Washington, D.C., to attend the inauguration ceremony of U.S. President-elect Donald Trump on Monday as President Xi Jinping's special representative. His presence signifies China's commitment to fostering a stable and constructive relationship with the incoming U.S. administration.
