In a gesture of unity and celebration ahead of the Spring Festival, Chinese President Xi Jinping extended festive greetings on Monday to members of non-Communist Party of China (CPC) political parties, the All-China Federation of Industry and Commerce (ACFIC), personages without party affiliation, and other members of the united front.
At an annual gathering held at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing, Xi, who is also the general secretary of the CPC Central Committee and chairman of the Central Military Commission, conveyed his best wishes as the nation prepares to welcome the Lunar New Year, which falls on January 29 this year.
During the event, Xi emphasized the government's commitment to implementing more proactive and impactful macro policies in 2025. He highlighted the focus on high-quality development and promoting greater self-reliance and strength in science and technology to sustain balanced social and economic growth.
\"We must achieve the targets set in the 14th Five-Year Plan and lay a solid foundation for the next five years,\" Xi stated. He called upon non-CPC political parties, the ACFIC, and personages without party affiliation to concentrate on central tasks, serve the country's overall interests, and leverage their unique strengths. \"By rallying broader support, building consensus, and pooling wisdom and strength, we can advance our nation's development,\" he added.
Xi expressed hope that these groups would mobilize all positive forces to contribute actively to comprehensively deepening reform and promoting high-quality development. He encouraged them to formulate insightful proposals for the forthcoming 15th Five-Year Plan (2026–2030).
Addressing environmental concerns, Xi stressed the importance of tackling critical and challenging problems in the supervision of the Yangtze River ecosystem's protection. \"Safeguarding our natural environment is a paramount task,\" he remarked.
He also urged the ACFIC to guide the private sector in maintaining enthusiasm for entrepreneurship and bolstering confidence in development. \"Establishing and improving modern corporate systems with distinctive Chinese features is essential for our economic vitality,\" Xi noted.
