China Stresses Open Dialogue with EU on Intellectual Property amid WTO Filing

China's Ministry of Commerce announced on Monday that channels of communication with the European Union (EU) on intellectual property issues remain open. This statement comes in response to the EU filing a complaint at the World Trade Organization (WTO) against China's judicial rulings on standard essential patent disputes.

The Ministry confirmed that China received a consultation request from the EU on January 20. In an online statement addressing media inquiries, the Ministry expressed China's commitment to addressing the matter in accordance with WTO rules.

\"China has adhered strictly to WTO rules and its accession commitments,\" the Ministry emphasized. \"We have continually improved legislation and law enforcement related to the protection of intellectual property rights, and our achievements have been widely recognized.\"

The Ministry reiterated that subsequent matters would be handled following WTO protocols, and China would firmly safeguard its legitimate rights and interests.
