More than a week has passed since a magnitude-6.8 earthquake struck Dingri County in southwest China's Xizang Autonomous Region on January 7. Amid ongoing resettlement and reconstruction efforts, a beacon of hope shines through the dedicated actions of local firefighters.
In the remote Cuo'ang Village of Quluo Town, the Xizang Forest Firefighting Special Operations Unit has taken on more than their usual duties. Beyond providing emergency assistance, these brave firefighters are preparing and serving lunch to the villagers affected by the disaster.
Our reporter, Zhao Chenchen, visited the frontline where the aroma of homemade meals mingled with the crisp mountain air. The firefighters, clad in their uniforms, worked diligently over steaming pots, cooking hearty dishes to nourish both body and soul.
Residents of Cuo'ang Village, many of whom have faced significant losses, expressed heartfelt gratitude for the support. The shared meals have become a symbol of solidarity, reinforcing the community's resilience in the face of adversity.
The initiative by the firefighting unit not only addresses immediate needs but also fosters a sense of normalcy and comfort. As reconstruction progresses, such acts of kindness highlight the enduring spirit of compassion and unity within Xizang.
