It has been more than a week since a magnitude-6.8 earthquake struck Dingri County in southwest China's Xizang Autonomous Region on January 7. The quake left many villages devastated, and resettlement and reconstruction efforts are still underway.
At Cuo'ang Village in Quluo Town, one of the areas most affected by the earthquake, the spirit of community and resilience is evident. Firefighters from the Xizang Forest Firefighting Special Operations Unit have been stationed here, working tirelessly to assist the villagers.
Today, these firefighters have taken on a new role: cooking lunch for the quake-affected residents. Amid the rubble and ongoing reconstruction, the aroma of freshly prepared food brings a sense of comfort and normalcy to the village.
\"Our priority is to ensure that the villagers are safe and well,\" said a member of the firefighting unit. \"Preparing meals is one way we can help support them during this difficult time.\"
Reporter Zhao Chenchen visited the village to witness the efforts firsthand. She observed the firefighters chopping vegetables, stirring large pots, and serving warm meals to grateful villagers.
As resettlement continues, the collaboration between the firefighters and the villagers highlights the strength and unity of the community in the face of adversity.
