Xi Jinping Extends Spring Festival Greetings, Calls for High-Quality Development in 2025

In a festive gathering at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing, Xi Jinping, General Secretary of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee, extended warm Spring Festival greetings on Monday to members of non-CPC political parties, the All-China Federation of Industry and Commerce (ACFIC), personages without party affiliation, and other members of the united front.

The Spring Festival, also known as the Chinese Lunar New Year, falls on January 29 this year. The annual event is a cherished tradition, symbolizing unity and goodwill across China's diverse political and social landscape.

Addressing the assembly, Xi Jinping, who also serves as Chinese President and Chairman of the Central Military Commission, emphasized the nation's commitment to implementing more proactive and impactful macroeconomic policies. He highlighted the focus on high-quality development and the promotion of greater self-reliance and strength in science and technology to sustain sound social and economic progress in 2025.

\"We must unite our efforts to achieve the targets set in the 14th Five-Year Plan and lay a solid foundation for the next five years,\" Xi declared. He called upon non-CPC political parties, the ACFIC, and personages without party affiliation to concentrate on central tasks, serve the country's overarching interests, and leverage their unique strengths. \"By rallying broader support, building consensus, and pooling wisdom and strength, we can drive our nation forward,\" he added.

Xi underscored the importance of addressing critical and challenging problems, specifically highlighting the need for enhanced supervision in protecting the Yangtze River ecosystem. Environmental sustainability, he noted, is integral to China's long-term development goals.

Turning to the private sector, Xi urged the ACFIC to guide businesses in maintaining enthusiasm for entrepreneurship and bolstering confidence in development. He encouraged the establishment and improvement of modern corporate systems with distinctive Chinese features, reinforcing the role of private enterprises in the national economy.

Looking ahead, Xi expressed hope that non-CPC personages would mobilize all positive forces to advance development. He called for active contributions to comprehensively deepening reform, promoting high-quality development, and formulating proposals for the upcoming 15th Five-Year Plan (2026–2030).

The gathering concluded with a shared sense of purpose and optimism, as representatives from various sectors reaffirmed their commitment to China's development objectives. The collective efforts aim to usher in a prosperous new year, fostering unity and progress across the nation.
