Han met with representatives from the U.S.-China Business Council and the U.S. Chamber of Commerce in Washington D.C., ahead of attending the inauguration ceremony of U.S. President-elect Donald Trump on Monday. Han is visiting as Chinese President Xi Jinping's special representative at the invitation of the United States.
During discussions, Han noted that President Xi and President-elect Trump had recently reached significant common understandings regarding the future of China-U.S. relations during a phone conversation. He underscored the vast potential for cooperation between the two nations, highlighting that fostering a strong bilateral relationship serves the interests of both peoples and meets global expectations.
\"The U.S. business community has always been the backbone of China-U.S. relations,\" Han stated, referring to American businesses as participants, witnesses, contributors, and beneficiaries of bilateral economic and trade cooperation as well as China's reform and opening-up efforts. He affirmed China's commitment to advancing reform and opening-up and enhancing its business environment.
Representatives of the U.S. business community expressed optimism about China's economic prospects and opportunities for development. They acknowledged that the recent phone conversation between Trump and Xi sent a positive and encouraging message. On the same day, Han also met with Tesla CEO Elon Musk. Han welcomed U.S. companies, including Tesla, to seize opportunities in China's development and to contribute further to promoting China-U.S. economic and trade relations. Musk conveyed Tesla's readiness to deepen investment and cooperation with China, aiming to play an active role in enhancing economic and trade exchanges between the two countries.
