Beijing, January 25 — Xi Jinping, General Secretary of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee, extended festive greetings to non-CPC political parties, the All-China Federation of Industry and Commerce (ACFIC), personages without party affiliation, and other members of the united front ahead of the Spring Festival.
In an annual gathering held at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing on Monday, Xi, who is also the Chinese President and Chairman of the Central Military Commission, conveyed his best wishes for the upcoming Lunar New Year, which falls on January 29 this year.
During the event, Xi emphasized China's commitment to implementing more proactive and impactful macroeconomic policies. He highlighted the nation's focus on high-quality development and the promotion of greater self-reliance and strength in science and technology to sustain sound social and economic progress in 2025.
Xi called upon non-CPC political parties, the ACFIC, and personages without party affiliation to align with central tasks and serve the country's overarching interests. He encouraged them to leverage their unique strengths to rally broader support, build consensus, and pool wisdom and strength for the nation's development.
Underscoring the importance of the 14th Five-Year Plan (2021–2025), Xi stressed the need to achieve the targets set for 2025 and to lay a solid foundation for the next five years. He expressed hope that non-CPC personages would mobilize all positive forces to advance development, actively contribute to comprehensively deepening reform, promote high-quality development, and formulate proposals for the 15th Five-Year Plan (2026–2030).
Addressing environmental concerns, Xi highlighted the critical and challenging problems in supervising the protection of the Yangtze River ecosystem. He urged concerted efforts to address these issues effectively.
Regarding the private sector, Xi noted that the ACFIC should guide private enterprises in maintaining enthusiasm for entrepreneurship and bolstering confidence in development. He emphasized the importance of establishing and improving modern corporate systems with distinctive Chinese characteristics.
The gathering reinforced the collaborative spirit between the CPC and non-CPC entities, emphasizing unity and shared goals as China enters a new year filled with opportunities for growth and development.
