Firefighters Bring Warmth to Quake-Affected Villagers in Xizang
Over a week has passed since a magnitude-6.8 earthquake struck Dingri County in southwest China's Xizang Autonomous Region on January 7. As resettlement and reconstruction efforts continue, the spirit of community shines through in the most heartwarming ways.
In Cuo'ang Village, Quluo Town, firefighters from the Xizang Forest Firefighting Special Operations Unit have taken on an unexpected role. Beyond their duties of ensuring safety and aiding in rebuilding efforts, they are preparing meals for villagers who have been affected by the earthquake.
Reporter Zhao Chenchen visited the village to witness firsthand the dedication of these firefighters. Amid the backdrop of damaged homes and ongoing reconstruction, the aroma of freshly cooked food fills the air. The firefighters, clad in their uniforms, work together to chop vegetables, stir pots, and serve meals.
\"We want to make sure that everyone is taken care of during these difficult times,\" said one of the firefighters. \"Cooking meals is a small way we can help bring comfort to the community.\"
Villagers express gratitude for the support they have received. \"Their kindness means so much to us,\" shared a resident of Cuo'ang Village. \"The meals they prepare not only nourish us physically but also uplift our spirits.\"
The collaborative efforts between firefighters and villagers exemplify the resilience and unity of the community. As rebuilding progresses, such acts of solidarity contribute to healing and recovery.
\"Seeing everyone come together gives us hope,\" said another villager. \"We are not alone in this, and together we will rebuild our homes and our lives.\"
