Xi Jinping Extends Spring Festival Greetings, Calls for High-Quality Development

Beijing, January 29 — Xi Jinping, General Secretary of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee, extended festive greetings to non-CPC political parties, the All-China Federation of Industry and Commerce (ACFIC), personages without party affiliation, and other members of the united front ahead of the Spring Festival.

During an annual gathering at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing, Xi, who is also Chinese President and Chairman of the Central Military Commission, conveyed his best wishes for the upcoming Chinese Lunar New Year, which falls on January 29 this year.

In his speech, Xi emphasized China's commitment to implementing more proactive and impactful macroeconomic policies. He highlighted the nation's focus on high-quality development and promoting greater self-reliance and strength in science and technology to sustain robust social and economic growth in 2025.

Xi called on non-CPC political parties, the ACFIC, and personages without party affiliation to concentrate on central tasks, serve the country's overall interests, and leverage their unique strengths to rally broader support, build consensus, and pool wisdom and strength.

He underscored the importance of achieving the targets set in the 14th Five-Year Plan (2021–2025) and laying a solid foundation for the next five years. Xi expressed hope that non-CPC personages would mobilize all positive forces to advance development, actively contribute to deepening reforms, promote high-quality development, and formulate proposals for the 15th Five-Year Plan (2026–2030).

Addressing environmental concerns, Xi stressed the need to tackle critical challenges in supervising the protection of the Yangtze River ecosystem. He urged concerted efforts to safeguard this vital natural resource.

Xi also highlighted the role of the ACFIC in guiding the private sector. He encouraged fostering enthusiasm for entrepreneurship, bolstering confidence in development, and establishing and improving modern corporate systems with distinctive Chinese features.
