Han Zheng Meets U.S. Business Leaders to Strengthen China-U.S. Ties

In a bid to reinforce China-U.S. relations, Chinese Vice President Han Zheng met with representatives of the U.S. business community on Sunday in Washington D.C. Han expressed hope that American companies will continue to invest and establish roots in China, acting as a bridge between the two nations and contributing to the steady, sound, and sustainable development of bilateral ties.

Han is visiting Washington D.C. to attend the inauguration ceremony of U.S. President-elect Donald Trump on Monday as Chinese President Xi Jinping's special representative. During his meeting with business leaders from the U.S.-China Business Council and the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, Han emphasized the importance of recent communications between President Xi and President-elect Trump, noting that they reached significant common understandings on the future of China-U.S. relations during a recent phone call.

\"China and the United States share broad common interests and vast potential for cooperation,\" Han said. \"Getting the bilateral relationship off to a good start and keeping it growing steadily serves the common well-being of the peoples of the two countries and meets the expectations of the international community.\"

Han highlighted the vital role the U.S. business community has played in fostering China-U.S. relations, describing them as participants, witnesses, contributors, and beneficiaries of bilateral economic and trade cooperation as well as China's reform and opening-up efforts. He reassured that China will unswervingly advance its reform and opening-up initiatives and continue to improve its business environment.

Representatives from the U.S. business community expressed optimism about China's economic prospects and the opportunities available. They welcomed the positive message sent by the recent phone conversation between President-elect Trump and President Xi, viewing it as encouraging for future cooperation. \"As the world's two most dynamic and technologically advanced economies, the U.S. and China should pursue mutually beneficial cooperation and work towards finding a constructive and stable way to coexist,\" they affirmed.

The U.S. business leaders voiced their support for strengthening dialogue and communication between the two nations to continue advancing bilateral relations and economic and trade cooperation.

On the same day, Han also met with Tesla CEO Elon Musk. Han welcomed Tesla's investment in China, encouraging the company to seize the opportunity to share in the fruits of China's development. He noted that China welcomes U.S. companies, including Tesla, to deepen investment and cooperation, and to play an active role in promoting economic and trade exchanges between the U.S. and China.

Musk expressed readiness to enhance Tesla's investment and cooperation with China, aiming to contribute to the promotion of economic and trade exchanges between the two countries.

Han's meetings with U.S. business leaders underline the mutual eagerness to strengthen economic ties and foster a stable relationship between China and the United States at the dawn of a new U.S. administration.
