Xi Jinping Seeks Stronger China-Vietnam Ties on 75th Anniversary

Chinese President Xi Jinping has expressed his readiness to collaborate with Vietnamese leaders to deepen strategic mutual trust, enhance practical cooperation, and achieve new milestones in building a China-Vietnam community with a shared future of strategic significance.

On Saturday, Xi, who is also General Secretary of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, exchanged congratulations with General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam Central Committee To Lam and Vietnamese President Luong Cuong on the occasion of the 75th anniversary of diplomatic ties between the two nations.

Xi highlighted that China and Vietnam, as friendly socialist neighbors, represent a community with a shared future carrying strategic importance. He noted that since establishing diplomatic relations 75 years ago, both countries have fought side by side for national independence and liberation, fostering a profound friendship characterized by the phrase, \"So profound is the friendship between Vietnam and China, because we are both comrades and brothers.\"

In their pursuit of socialist ideals, Xi emphasized that China and Vietnam have learned from each other and advanced hand in hand, deepening comprehensive strategic cooperation. Sharing the same ideals and pursuing a shared future is the most striking feature of the relations between the two parties and countries, he said.

Recalling his successful visit to Vietnam in 2023, Xi stated that both sides pledged to work towards a China-Vietnam community with a shared future of strategic significance, elevating bilateral relations to a new stage.

As the world undergoes unprecedented changes, Xi underscored that China and Vietnam's continued commitment to the socialist path has significant bearings on the future of both countries and the global socialist cause. This commitment is crucial for regional and global peace, stability, development, and prosperity.

Xi expressed that he attaches great importance to the growth of China-Vietnam relations and is willing to work with Vietnamese leaders to seize the opportunity presented by the 75th anniversary of diplomatic ties and the China-Vietnam Year of People-to-People Exchanges. He called for remembering the original mission and forging ahead on the new journey toward socialist modernization, to deliver more benefits to the two peoples and make important contributions to the global socialist cause and human development.
