China Open to Dialogue with EU on Intellectual Property Amid WTO Dispute

China has affirmed its willingness to maintain open channels of communication with the European Union (EU) regarding intellectual property (IP) issues, as stated by the Chinese Ministry of Commerce on Monday.

This statement comes after the EU filed a complaint at the World Trade Organization (WTO) on the same day, challenging China's judicial practices concerning standard essential patent disputes.

In response to media inquiries, the Ministry noted that China received the consultation request from the EU on January 20. The Ministry emphasized China's commitment to adhering strictly to WTO rules and its accession commitments.

\"China has continually improved legislation and law enforcement related to the protection of intellectual property rights,\" the Ministry said in an online statement, adding that the country's achievements in this area have been widely recognized.

The Ministry further stated that China will address subsequent matters in accordance with WTO rules and will firmly safeguard its legitimate rights and interests.

As the global landscape becomes increasingly interconnected, effective communication between China and the EU on intellectual property matters remains crucial for fostering innovation and mutual economic growth.
