Xi Jinping Extends Spring Festival Greetings, Emphasizes Unity and Development

On Monday, Xi Jinping, General Secretary of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee, extended festive greetings to members of non-CPC political parties, the All-China Federation of Industry and Commerce (ACFIC), personages without party affiliation, and other participants in the united front, ahead of the upcoming Spring Festival.

The gathering took place at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing, marking an annual tradition as China approaches the Chinese Lunar New Year, which falls on January 29 this year.

During the event, Xi, who is also the Chinese President and Chairman of the Central Military Commission, emphasized the importance of implementing more proactive and impactful macroeconomic policies. He highlighted the nation's focus on high-quality development and the need to enhance self-reliance and strength in science and technology to ensure sustained social and economic progress in 2025.

Xi called upon non-CPC political parties, the ACFIC, and personages without party affiliation to concentrate on central tasks and serve the country's overall interests. He urged them to leverage their unique strengths to rally broader support, build consensus, and pool wisdom and strength in the pursuit of national development goals.

Underscoring the significance of achieving the targets set in the 14th Five-Year Plan (2021–2025), Xi stressed the necessity of laying a solid foundation for the next five years. He expressed hope that non-CPC personages would mobilize all positive forces to advance development, actively contribute to deepening reforms, promote high-quality development, and formulate proposals for the forthcoming 15th Five-Year Plan (2026–2030).

Xi also highlighted the need to address critical and challenging problems, particularly in supervising the protection of the Yangtze River ecosystem. He noted that preserving the environment is crucial for sustainable development.

Addressing the ACFIC, Xi encouraged guiding the private sector to maintain enthusiasm for entrepreneurship and bolster confidence in development. He emphasized the importance of establishing and improving modern corporate systems with distinctive Chinese features, aiming to strengthen the private economy's role in national progress.
