President Xi Jinping, General Secretary of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee, chaired a meeting of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee on Monday. The meeting reviewed reports from the leading Party members' groups of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress (NPC), the State Council, the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), the Supreme People's Court (SPC), the Supreme People's Procuratorate (SPP), and the Secretariat of the CPC Central Committee.
The meeting acknowledged the significant achievements of these groups over the past year and approved their work plans for 2025. Emphasizing the importance of action and reform, the meeting called for concerted efforts to advance high-quality development and the modernization of China in the coming year.
The Political Bureau also highlighted the critical role of ecological protection and high-quality development in the Yellow River Basin. The committee called for the full enforcement of the Yellow River Protection Law and outlined measures to enhance conservation efforts. These include strengthening water source conservation in the upper reaches, improving soil and water conservation in the middle reaches, and advancing wetland protection and ecological governance in the lower reaches.
Efforts were urged to ensure the safety of key infrastructure such as dams and reservoirs. The meeting advocated for strengthening the synergy between the Yellow River's development and broader regional strategies, including the large-scale development of the western region and the rise of the central region. Additionally, there was a focus on the holistic and systematic protection of cultural heritage and promoting the integration of culture and tourism development along the Yellow River.
