Xi Jinping Extends Spring Festival Greetings to Non-CPC Personages, Calls for Unity in Development

Xi Jinping, General Secretary of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee, extended festive greetings to non-CPC personages ahead of the upcoming Spring Festival. The annual gathering took place on Monday at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing, bringing together members of non-CPC political parties, the All-China Federation of Industry and Commerce (ACFIC), personages without party affiliation, and other members of the united front.

The Spring Festival, also known as the Chinese Lunar New Year, falls on January 29 this year. During the event, Xi, who is also the Chinese President and Chairman of the Central Military Commission, emphasized China's commitment to implementing more proactive and impactful macroeconomic policies. He highlighted the focus on high-quality development and promoting greater self-reliance and strength in science and technology to ensure sustained social and economic progress in 2025.

Xi called upon non-CPC political parties, the ACFIC, and personages without party affiliation to concentrate on central tasks and serve the nation's overall interests. He encouraged them to leverage their unique strengths to rally broader support, build consensus, and pool wisdom and strength, contributing to the country's development goals.

Underscoring the significance of achieving the targets set in the 14th Five-Year Plan (2021–2025), Xi stressed the importance of laying a solid foundation for the subsequent five years. He expressed hope that non-CPC personages would mobilize all positive forces to advance development, actively contribute to comprehensively deepening reform, promoting high-quality development, and formulating proposals for the 15th Five-Year Plan (2026–2030).

Addressing environmental concerns, Xi highlighted the need to tackle critical and challenging problems in the supervision of the Yangtze River ecosystem's protection. He emphasized the importance of preserving the environment while pursuing economic growth.

Xi also urged the ACFIC to guide the private sector in maintaining enthusiasm for entrepreneurship and bolstering confidence in development. He called for establishing and improving modern corporate systems with distinctive Chinese features, fostering a business environment conducive to innovation and sustainable growth.

The gathering reflects the Chinese leadership's emphasis on unity and collaboration among various political and social groups in advancing the nation's development objectives. As China moves forward with its ambitious plans, the collective efforts of all sectors are deemed crucial in realizing the country's vision for the future.
