In an exclusive interview with CGTN's Global Business, Severin Podolak, Head of Event Management and Operations at the World Economic Forum (WEF), emphasized the organization's commitment to sustainability and diversity during this year's event.
Podolak shared that the 2024 Davos Forum implemented numerous measures to "reduce, reuse and recycle." One notable initiative was subsidizing participants who chose to travel using public transportation, encouraging eco-friendly travel options.
"We tried our best to reduce our environmental footprint by supporting attendees who opted for greener travel methods," Podolak explained.
Beyond sustainability, Podolak highlighted the Forum's efforts to enhance diversity. The 2024 Davos Forum brought together a diverse representation from various regions, industries, and perspectives. "It's important for us to include voices from all over the world, across different sectors, to foster meaningful dialogue and solutions," he said.
The WEF's focus on sustainability and diversity aims to set a precedent for global events, encouraging other organizations to adopt similar practices.
