Xi Jinping Extends Spring Festival Greetings, Emphasizes Unity and Development

In a gesture marking the upcoming Spring Festival, Xi Jinping, General Secretary of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee, extended warm greetings to non-CPC political parties, the All-China Federation of Industry and Commerce (ACFIC), personages without party affiliation, and other members of the united front.

On Monday, at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing, Xi, who is also Chinese President and Chairman of the Central Military Commission, gathered with representatives to celebrate the Chinese Lunar New Year, which falls on January 29 this year. The annual event serves as a platform for fostering unity and collaboration among various political and social groups in China.

During his address, Xi emphasized China’s commitment to implementing more proactive and impactful macroeconomic policies. He highlighted the focus on high-quality development and advancing self-reliance in science and technology as pivotal for sustaining robust social and economic growth in 2025.

“We must harness the unique strengths of non-CPC political parties and personages without party affiliation to rally broader support, build consensus, and pool wisdom and strength,” Xi stated. He encouraged these groups to concentrate on central tasks and serve the nation’s overarching interests.

Reflecting on the nation’s goals, Xi underlined the significance of achieving the targets set in the 14th Five-Year Plan (2021–2025), laying a solid foundation for the next planning period. He urged contributions towards comprehensively deepening reform, promoting high-quality development, and formulating proposals for the upcoming 15th Five-Year Plan (2026–2030).

Xi also spotlighted environmental concerns, stressing the need to tackle critical challenges in supervising the protection of the Yangtze River ecosystem. “Protecting our environment is integral to our long-term development,” he affirmed.

Addressing the private sector, Xi called on the ACFIC to guide businesses in maintaining entrepreneurial enthusiasm and bolstering confidence in development. He advocated for the establishment and improvement of modern corporate systems with distinctive Chinese features, reinforcing the vital role of private enterprises in the nation’s economy.

As China welcomes the Spring Festival, Xi’s message resonated with themes of unity, progress, and shared responsibility, setting a hopeful tone for the year ahead.
